Scottish Government: “Substantial and enduring influence” of Christianity in schools

The Scottish Government have recently written to the Christian Values in Education Project about our work.

A key part of the Government’s letter reads:

“As a Government we recognise the substantial and enduring influence of the Christian faith in transforming and inspiring Scotland’s people and culture. Faith-based education and religious observance have an important part to play in the development of our young people as successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.”

Richard Coton (our CVE Secretary) comments: “We’re most grateful to the Government for their encouragement. They’ve been saying a number of very positive things about Christianity in schools in the last couple of years, and this is one of the clearest statements yet of the high value that they place on Christian involvement.”
