Salvation Army: Assembly Resources
This website provides easy-to-use outlines, scripts and resources for assemblies using many of the most popular topics in schools. Most outlines are accompanied by downloadable PowerPoint presentations, and some also suggest video clips that can be accessed via YouTube or the BBC website. The site has separate Primary and Secondary sections. References are to Key Stages but can be easily adapted to Curriculum for Excellence. The script and (where appropriate) activities in each outline are written up in a useful amount of detail, but the format is also flexible and easy to customise.
This site is particularly designed to be used by chaplains and other visiting speakers, but is equally useful to teachers leading assemblies.
Assembly outlines and resources are currently available for Harvest, Anti-Slavery/Trafficking, remembrance, Christmas, New Year, Women’s History Month, Easter. Most topics have separate Outlines and resources for Primary and Secondary schools.
Each Outline is readily accessible and very clearly described. Some require greater confidence from the presenter (e.g. the highly imaginative Ready Steady Cook format for Harvest), whereas others are quite straightforward.
