Our friends at Youth for Christ Scotland are holding a day conference focused on Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing.

‘Sometimes It Hurts’ is a mental health and emotional well-being day conference. The training you will receive aims to equip you in your context to support children and young people with their emotional mental health and well-being. The day itself contains several seminar streams delivered by front line professionals, complimented by important keynote topics that are relevant to all settings.

Self-Harm and Suicide

Have you ever felt completely out of your depth when a young person has disclosed they are harming them self? What would your response be if a pupil told you they no longer wanted to live? This seminar aims to equip and build your confidence in supporting young people at these times and will give practical strategies and professional advice to ensure they access the right help at the right time.

Join us as we discuss the role of unsung hero’s in supporting our children and young people all year round.

The Teenage Brain

Did you know your brain doesn’t fully develop until you are 25! Often teenagers present with bizarre behaviours and questionable choices which may relate to science and not stubbornness! Come and learn some of the neuro-physiology behind the scenes of the Teenage Brain. With strategies, top tips and plenty humour, leave equipped to support them on their journey to young adulthood.

We are living in a generation where it’s hard to escape from the constant buzz of social media, school place gossip and increasingly violence on the streets. Our children and young people worry more now than ever before and the impact of anxiety can be substantial. This seminar will support you to understand the science behind the symptoms and allow you to offer practical help and support to children and young people in your care.
