Mental Health in Schools Event Presentation
The CVE Scotland ‘Mental Health in Schools’ event held over Zoom on Monday 30th November was well attended, with much positive feedback.
Over 50 participants to the Zoom call were inspired by a very informative and helpful presentation by Dr. Rob Waller, a Director of The Mind and Soul Foundation. This was recorded and can be viewed on YouTube here.
In this presentation he sets the scene with some helpful statistics, then goes onto explain what role we all can play in helping improve the mental health of young people in our communities, looking at possible preventions and opportunities which exist. The talk was aimed at those working in or with schools and includes references to relevant resources. The presentation ends with showing the questions which were then discussed in Zoom breakout rooms afterwards.
The slides which Rob used in his presentation can also be viewed separately as a PDF: Dr. Rob Waller slides for CVE Scotland Mental Health in Schools event.
After discussing in breakout room some preventative measures and opportunities, as well as thinking about how well our own mental health is at the moment, the event closed with opportunity to ask Rob questions directly and many suggestions for website and other resources to look at.
The CVE Scotland website has some links to mental health articles and resources and the additional ones mentioned on the call will be added to the site. These can be found either in the mental health resources compilation, or by searching ‘mental health’ using the search facility at the top of a page (magnifying glass).
