Holocaust Memorial Day resources
It is the International Holocaust Remembrance Day on 27th January. Here are some suggested resources for the classroom, youth group or home.
Jane Haining
Scotland’s Heroes learner journey (education.gov.scot) has produced resources about “Great Scots” including Jane Haining who died in Auschwitz in July 1944.
She is recognised at Yad Vashem as one of the “Righteous Among the Nations” for the work that she did with Jewish girls in Budapest.
This resource is suitable for 2nd and 3rd level and the resource supports both Social Studies and RME.
This resource from Education Scotland enables learners to focus on what an ordinary Scots woman did during the war to save others.
The learning activities link with:
- Belief and Faith
- Values
- History
This enables learners to:
- Use primary and secondary resources
- Discuss and listen
- Compare and contrast
