Back to School with God

SU Scotland in partnership with SU Northern Ireland and CVE Scotland has created resources for a Back to School with God Sunday service, which is a fantastic way for churches to start a new academic year. Encourage your church to focus on pupils and adults who work in schools for at least one service a year, at a key point for everyone as a new academic year starts again.

The resources contain an all-age service, accompanying PowerPoint slides, prayers, children’s activities, mid-week Bible study and publicity, and an option to print or order postcards to encourage those you know in schools. The resources are written in an easy-to-use format, with options to choose what the service leader thinks will work best for their congregation.

The theme of the 2023 service is ‘Be Strong and Brave’, based on Joshua 1 verses 1-9. As our young people and adults step out into a new school year, how and why can they be strong and brave?
