Introducing the God Question

Introducing the God Question is an outstanding resource to enable senior secondary pupils to explore the relationships between science and religion in a rigourous but evenhanded manner.

The DVD includes 6 half hour episodes, in which world renowned contributors from both sides of the science/God debate unpack the evidence found in the Cosmos, Life and Evolution and the hidden depths of Mind and Consciousness. A Teacher’s Guide and Pupil Study Guides provide full support for a range of classroom activities, which can be used in RME, an RME-science joint project, or a senior school half-day conference.

ITGQ has been used with great success already in a range of Scottish secondary schools — as a resource for RME National 4 & 5/Higher/Advanced Higher: Religious & Philosophical Questions Unit.

It is also highly attractive for Core RME in the senior school, and the activities can be developed as a half-day conference to which pupils can explore the relationships between science and religion — and challenge stereotypes around the idea that “science has disproved religion”:

Sciences: recognise the impact the sciences make on my life, the lives of others, the environment and on society/express opinions and make decisions on social, moral, ethical, economic and environmental issues based upon sound understanding/develop as a scientifically-literate citizen with a lifelong interest in the sciences

RME: investigate and understand the responses which religious and non-religious views can offer to questions about the nature & meaning of life/develop respect for others and an understanding of beliefs and practices which are different from my own/develop my beliefs, attitudes, values and practices through reflection, discovery and critical evaluation.
