NUA A Fresh Perspective on Faith - Christian Values in Education, CVE Scotland

NUA Film Series

NUA is a series of eight short films (approx 15mins each) intended to be watched over time, addressing some of the big questions about life and the Christian faith. An excellent resource for core RME (or RE in RC schools), as well as for youth groups, it is filmed in multiple locations across the world to the same high production standards as the Alpha film series.

The films cover the following topics:

  1. how did we get here? (Human existence, the complexity of the universe, and our constant search for meaning)
  2. Jesus: fact or fiction? (How accurate is the record of Jesus’ life?)
  3. what about the resurrection? (Investigating the alternative theories for Jesus’ empty tomb)
  4. what was Jesus really like? (A closer look at how Jesus treated individuals)
  5. why do I like Jesus, but struggle with Christians? (Exploring the reasons behind why Christians often fail to look and live like Jesus)
  6. how can you say that God is good? (Finding God in the midst of our pain)
  7. has the church caused more harm than good? (The good, the bad and ugly of the Christian church over 2000 years)
  8. what’s Jesus got to do with me? (Discovering what Jesus’s life and death say about me and my life).

This resource will work especially well with S3-S6 pupils at school (or in an SU Group or church youth group). The films act as discussion starters to enable young people to explore their worldview, while encouraging them to wrestle with the things that just don’t seem to make sense.

The cost of these films is normally substantial. However, SU Republic of Ireland have generously agreed to make the films available free of charge in Scotland on the following conditions;

Users must register for the material showing that

  • They live in Scotland
  • They plan to use the material to run an event in Scotland
  • Users should also not share the resource when they receive it, but instead should encourage anyone else to register for themselves.
