Practical Tips on the use of AI within the Classroom
At a recent breakfast network meeting of Christian teaching staff in Haddington in June, I was inspired to hear how a music teacher had devised a simple but effective lesson on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) where the students researched and then debated its impact on the industry. Using an activity like this at the start of a new term can help set the tone for developing a classroom AI policy – establishing boundaries right from the start for classwork, homework tasks, and Qualification Scotland course assessments. As we start this new academic year, the theme of our September 2026 newsletter is AI and the Christian teacher.
From the outset, it is good for our soul to recall Proverbs Chapter 2 verse 6: “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding”. True wisdom and real knowledge ultimately come from God. He is the source. This is a powerful truth as we pray for schools and for our teachers who stand in front of classes every day seeking to impart knowledge.
The downloadable tip sheet below aims to offer practical ideas for using AI in lessons – though it would be hypocritical if I did not confess to the help of AI in its construction! We hope it may be of help to you and please feel free to share your own thoughts and ideas with us. We love to hear from you! Email us at cve@cve-scotland.org.uk.
