Prayer Newsletter: Autumn 2026-27

CVE SCOTLAND AUTUMN PRAYER NEWSLETTER 2026-27

Dear Friends,

As the new school year is now well underway across Scotland, we are thankful for the opportunities God continues to give CVE Scotland to inspire, equip and connect Christian teachers and school staff. We are especially grateful for those who have joined our local meet-ups and for the growing opportunities to encourage teachers in their own communities.

Our Autumn 2026 newsletter explored the opportunities and challenges presented by Artificial Intelligence for Christian teachers. We pray that teachers will have wisdom and discernment as they use new technologies, while continuing to value truth, creativity, relationships and the dignity of every pupil. We also look ahead to the new Curriculum Framework and pray that Christian values and beliefs will continue to have an appropriate place within Scotland’s education.

Thank you for using these 31 prayer points in your quiet time. They can also be used at corporate prayer times and with school ministry hub groups. What better thing can we do than lay our petitions at the feet of the great Teacher, who hears our prayers and answers according to His will?

Every blessing,

CVE Scotland Trustees and Management Committee members

Please pray for school staff, school visitors and pupils: –
1 Give thanks for the new school year across Scotland. Pray that teachers, school staff and pupils will settle into new routines and that classrooms will be places of welcome, learning and peace.
2 Pray for probationer teachers as they continue their first year in the profession. May they find supportive colleagues, manage the demands of the classroom and know that they are valued and not alone.
3 Ask God to strengthen teachers and school staff who are already feeling the pressure of workload and competing demands. Give them wisdom, patience and renewed energy for the pupils entrusted to their care.
4 Pray for children and young people who have joined a new school or who have moved between stages. May they make good friendships, find encouraging adults and feel secure as they face change.
5 Pray especially for pupils with Additional Support Needs. May they receive the understanding, resources and encouragement they need, and never feel overlooked or defined simply by a label.
6 Pray for pupils who struggle with attendance or find school difficult. Ask God to bring the right people alongside them and to help them discover hope, purpose and a love of learning.
7 Pray for school chaplains, church volunteers and Christian organisations serving in schools. May they build trusted relationships with staff and pupils and have opportunities to demonstrate and explain the Christian faith.
8 Thank God for SU and Bible groups in schools across Scotland. Pray for the pupils who attend and for Christian teachers and volunteers who give time to support these groups.
9 Pray for Christian teachers and school staff to live out their faith with confidence, wisdom and grace. May their words and actions point others towards the hope they have in Christ.
10 Pray for headteachers, senior leaders and pastoral staff. Ask God to give them wisdom in the many decisions they make and compassion for the individual needs of pupils and staff.
11 Pray for the families of teachers and school staff as the demands of the new school year increase. Thank God for those who support them and pray for healthy rhythms between work, family, church and rest.
12 Pray for young people as they encounter Artificial Intelligence and an increasingly digital world. May they learn to use technology wisely and critically, recognising the importance of truth, relationships and human dignity.
13 Ask God to give school staff wisdom when dealing with difficult behaviour, conflict or sensitive situations. May they respond with grace, firmness and a desire to see every young person flourish.
14 Pray for opportunities in assemblies, RME, chaplaincy, SU groups and everyday conversations for pupils to encounter Christian values and hear the good news of Jesus in appropriate and thoughtful ways.
Please pray for the Scotland education issues: –
15 Pray for Christian teachers as they consider the opportunities and challenges of Artificial Intelligence. May they use new tools with wisdom, honesty and good professional judgement, rather than allowing technology to replace the human relationships at the heart of education.
16 Pray that teachers will have discernment about AI-generated information. May they be alert to inaccuracies, bias and misinformation, and encourage pupils to value truth, evidence and careful thinking.
17 Pray for wisdom around the ethical questions raised by AI, including privacy, safeguarding, authorship and academic integrity. May schools develop approaches that protect pupils and uphold their dignity.
18 Pray that Christian teachers will have opportunities to bring a thoughtful Christian perspective to conversations about AI, helping pupils consider questions of human worth, creativity, responsibility, wisdom and what it means to flourish.
19 Pray for those developing and implementing Scotland’s new Curriculum Framework through the Curriculum Improvement Cycle. Ask God to give them wisdom, humility and a clear understanding of the needs of children and young people.
20 Pray particularly that Christianity and Christian values and beliefs will continue to have an appropriate and meaningful place within the new Curriculum Framework, including opportunities for spiritual and moral development and learning about religion.
21 Pray for teachers, school leaders and other education professionals who will engage with the new framework. May they have the time, support and confidence needed to understand the changes and put them into practice well.

Please pray for the work of CVE Scotland: –
22 Give thanks for the Probationer Welcome Packs initiative. Pray that the packs distributed to three local authorities so far will communicate to newly qualified teachers that they are valued, supported and part of a wider teaching community.
23 Pray for good contacts to be made with the 10 other local authorities contacted in September – that the email may be considered and followed through.
24 Pray that the Welcome Packs will introduce Christian teachers and school staff to CVE Scotland, our resources and our wider network, and that some who receive them will find encouragement to live out their faith in school.
25 Pray for the teacher and school staff meet-ups being planned across Scotland. Ask God to bring the right people together and create genuine opportunities for fellowship, prayer, encouragement and practical support.
26 Pray that additional opportunities will present themselves to develop local networks in other parts of Scotland yet to be visited e.g. Borders, Argyll & Bute, Dumfries and Galloway. May these gatherings help isolated Christian educators discover that they are part of a wider community. Also that church congregations may extend an invitation for a visit from our Outreach Administrator to share about the work of CVE Scotland.
27 Thank God for the growing number of opportunities CVE Scotland has to connect with teachers and school staff through events, online gatherings, newsletters and social media. Pray that every contact will be encouraging and God-honouring.
28 Pray for CVE Scotland’s website refresh and online resources. May the website be accessible, useful and easy to navigate, helping teachers and school staff find practical resources and encouragement when they need it.
29 Thank God for the volunteers who support CVE Scotland through IT, events, social media, school engagement and prayer. Pray for those considering serving in new ways and for the right people to come forward.
30 Pray for the financial provision needed for CVE Scotland’s work. Give thanks for those who already give and ask God to provide the resources needed for local events, Welcome Packs, outreach and the continued development of our work. Give thanks for those who support fundraising activities e.g. October’s Soup and Pudding event in Stornoway.
31 Pray for the Trustees, Management Committee and staff as CVE Scotland continues to develop its refreshed vision. Pray that God may stir a desire in the heart of others to serve in various roles including Chair and Trustee. May we remain dependent on God, faithful to our calling and effective in inspiring, equipping and connecting Christian teachers and school staff across Scotland.
