Prayer Newsletter: Summer 2025-26

CVE SCOTLAND SUMMER PRAYER NEWSLETTER 2026

We continue to value your prayerful interest in the work of CVE Scotland and our aim to inspire and encourage Christian teachers and school staff to confidently live out their faith.

In Titus 2:7-8 we read, “Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.” This is a strong exhortation for everyone involved in education. It both challenges and encourages us to press on for the Lord.

We also read in Matthew 24, as part of Jesus’ teaching on the Mount of Olives, about the signs of the end times. With the events of recent months — although we do not know the exact day or hour — the return of Christ feels ever more imminent.

Thank you for using these 31 prayer points in your quiet time. They can also be used in corporate prayer meetings and with school ministry hub groups. What better thing can we do than lay our petitions at the feet of the great Teacher, who hears our prayers and answers according to His will?

Every blessing,

CVE Scotland Trustees and Management Committee members
Iain, Steve, Nigel, Elaine, Kirsteen, Sandra, Shelagh and Lynn

Please pray for school staff, school visitors and pupils: –
1 Thank God for the SU/Bible groups across all the schools in Scotland as they enter the last few months of this school year. May the lessons taught and conversations held across the year throughout the year be a challenge and encouragement to the pupils who took part.
2 Thank God for the promise given to Christian school workers and teachers – ‘We know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.’ Romans 8:28. May this be a real encouragement to those who are going through trials in school.
3 As schools prepare to hold special services for pupils who are leaving primary school or secondary school at the end of June, we pray for the chaplains and church volunteers who will be involved.
4 For those involved in SU Scotland Ministry Hubs – that real connections are made and prayers offered for specific, local issues to our heavenly Father.
5 Many pupils (especially in secondary schools and deprived areas) with lower attendance than pre-COVID levels. Pray for a love of learning, reduced persistent absence, and motivation to attend regularly. Pray that pupils would recognise education is a good gift from God.
6 As next year’s probationer teachers find out their school, pray that those of faith may be bold to make it known and find ways to serve our Saviour in the workplace.
7 Pray for Christian teachers who are applying for a position in a new school. Pray that they may be able to give of their best during the interview and that God will guide them to where they can serve best. Prepare their hearts for any disappointment in the knowledge that God will direct their paths.
8 Give thanks for teachers and school staff who are retiring in the coming months. May they enjoy the memories of their time in school, and that God will show them different ways to serve in this next phase of life.
9 Pray for safety, fun and refreshment for staff and pupils who will take part in school trips and activities towards the end of term.
10 With the increase in pupils with ASN now in mainstream classes, pray for effective support, understanding teachers, and that no child feels overlooked. Let ASN pupils know they are known and loved by God.
11 Pray for greater opportunities through SU groups, assemblies, Religious and Moral Education (RME) lessons, and chaplaincy for the gospel to be clearly heard. Give thanks for every door that is being opened.
12 At a recent teacher online event, workload and attainment targets were raised as specific prayer points. Ask that God will grant schools’ staff wisdom to understand each pupil’s needs, patience to respond with grace and strength to deal with their heavy workload.
13 Pray that God will call more Christians into teaching and educational roles to shine his light in Scottish schools.
14 For the families of school teachers – pray that they may enjoy a special time over the summer with their husband/wife or mother/father. Thank God for the support they have been to their spouse or parent as they dealt with schoolwork at home.
15 Pray for pupils who are currently undertaking Qualifications Scotland (formerly SQA) exams that they may prepare well and seek to give of their best. Pray for those who suffer anxiety and stress that this may not be a barrier to their ability to complete their exam papers.

Please pray for the Scotland education issues: –
16 Thank God for the different organisations, churches and staff members who have helped to distribute the 2026 CVE Scotland survey link to help identify how we can practically encourage and inspire Christians working in schools across our country. Pray that the results will clearly show new avenues of support that CVE Scotland can offer.
17 Pray for those in authority over us, especially the new Scottish Government which will be formed in May. Pray that the MSP appointed as Cabinet Secretary for Education may be wise in their policy making and funding decisions. Thank God for the service of the Christian MSPs who have stepped down or who were not re-elected, that they may be clearly led in the coming days.
18 Pray for improving positive behaviour, reduced disruption, and the ability to build healthy classroom relationships. For Christian staff to not grow weary in showing grace and patience in the varied situations they face. .
19 Pray for teaching staff who are considering whether to enrol on the Evangelical Alliance Public Leader programme which starts in January 2027. Pray that God will raise up more Christians to take up positions of leadership in our schools.
20 Pray for wisdom for those leading the Curriculum Improvement Cycle for Scottish education and currently drafting the new guidelines. Pray too for teachers and school leaders who are involved in co-creation and will implement changes — that they will not be overwhelmed. Pray for the protection of opportunities for spiritual and moral development within RME, assemblies, and school life.
21 Give thanks for school staff who will help with Christian camps and holiday clubs over the summer months. Pray for all the children and young people who are thinking about attending – for their safety, and for hearts and minds ready to consider what Christ has done for them.

Please pray for the work of CVE Scotland: –
22 Give thanks to God for trustees and staff who have recently retired/stepped down. For Megan Patterson and Rev Steve Younger who continue to work for the Lord in other capacities, that they may be blessed and be a blessing to others.
23 Give thanks for a developing relationship with the Association of Christian Teachers and for the recent online prayer event.
24 Give thanks for the generous financial grants received recently to help implement our new vision and strategy. Pray for wisdom for those who make the expenditure decisions and that they will be faithful stewards.
25 Give thanks for the encouraging support from Haddington Community Church who have agreed to host our first in-person teacher and school staff event on Saturday, 20th June. Pray that this may allow schools’ staff to connect and pray for one another at the end of term.
26 Thank God for the increasing engagement with CVE Scotland social media channels and for the volunteers who have helped make this possible. Pray that the bible verses will be words in season for our school staff.
27 Pray for the publication of the Back to School with God ‘Crumbs!’ resources and thank God for the opportunity to work with SU Scotland in its production. Pray that churches may hear about the material, be able to download it from the SU Scotland website and feel inspired to mark the start of the new academic year in August.
28 Thank God for CVE Scotland’s volunteers and their support in IT, social media management and school engagement. Pray for those who are currently considering how they may serve with CVE Scotland in different ways.
29 Pray for CVE Scotland members/staff involved in our website refresh. May the website be accessible for all and provide resources which are relevant and helpful to our stakeholders.
30 Pray that school staff will have liberty to use the RSHP project resources in Third and Fourth Level and Senior Years. Pray that the revised RSHP guidelines are implemented, with parents given the opportunity to be informed of resources used in class.
31 Give thanks for the opportunity to give out Probationer Blessing Packs in Renfrewshire in June. Pray that these may be received well and that Christian teachers will become more aware of CVE Scotland and find encouragement from the website and the work that we do.

We would also love to pray for you. If you would like to raise specific prayer requests, please email Lynn MacMillan at cve@cve-scotland.org.uk.
