Prayer Newsletter: Summer 2025
Here comes Summer!
Dear Friends,
It may feel like this summer prayer newsletter is a little late as we enjoyed what felt like the best of the sun in May! We continue to value your prayerful interest in the work of CVE Scotland and our aim of supporting teachers, chaplains and school workers ensure Christian values and beliefs are part of Scottish education.
In Titus 2:7-8 we read the following, “Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us”. A strong exhortation for everyone involved in education which challenges and encourages us to press on for the Lord.
June’s newsletter theme is Learning for Sustainability/Creation Care. A new National Framework for Initial Teacher Training was published last month, demonstrating the importance placed on this curriculum area.
Thank you for using these 31 prayer points in your quiet time. This can also be used at corporate prayer times and with school ministry hub groups. What better thing can we do than lay our petitions at the feet of the great Teacher who hears our prayers and answers according to His Will.

| Please pray for school staff, school visitors and pupils: – | |
| 1 | Thank God for the SU/bible groups across all the schools in Scotland as they prepare to wind up for the summer. May the lessons taught, and conversations held across the year be a challenge and encouragement to the pupils who took part. |
| 2 | Thank God for the promise given to Christian school workers and teachers – ‘We know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.’ Romans 8:28. May this be an encouragement to those who are going through trials in school. |
| 3 | As schools hold special services for pupils who are leaving primary school or secondary school or college/university or work, we pray that chaplains and church volunteers who will be involved. |
| 4 | Especially after the sad news stories of young people being injured and killed in recent weeks within the community, pray that God’s love and peace fill every classroom, playground, and staff room across Scotland’s schools. Pray for the work of the Christian organisations who teach on the dangers of carrying knives within schools. |
| 5 | Following the encouragement of the Bible Society’s Quiet Revival report – that Gen Z leads the rise in church attendance, ask God to continue to open pupils’ hearts to explore Christian values and make wise choices about their beliefs. |
| 6 | As probationer teachers find out their school allocation for the coming year, pray that those of faith may be bold to make it known and find a way to serve our Saviour in the workplace. |
| 7 | Pray for Christian teachers who are applying for positions in new schools. Pray that they may be able to give of their best during the interview and that God will move them to where they can serve best. Prepare their hearts for any disappointments in the knowledge that God will direct their paths. |
| 8 | Give thanks for teachers and schools workers who are retiring this summer. May they enjoy the memories of their time in school, and that God shows them how they can serve in different ways in this new phase of life. |
| 9 | Pray for safety, fun and refreshment for staff and pupils who will take part in school trips and activities in the weeks that remain of the summer term. |
| 10 | Pray for the mental and spiritual health those pupils who do not look forward to the school holidays; being without the routine and security a structured school day brings. |
| 11 | Ask God to strengthen partnerships between churches and local schools and to raise up more volunteers willing to support schools in a variety of capacities. |
| 12 | This month Scotland’s largest teachers’ union has described the workload in schools as “unfair, unhealthy and unsustainable”. Ask God to grant schools’ staff wisdom to understand each pupil’s needs, patience to respond with grace and strength to deal with their heavy workload. |
| 13 | Pray that God calls more Christians into teaching and educational roles to shine His light in Scottish schools. |
| 14 | For the families of schoolteachers – pray that they may enjoy a special time over the summer with their husband/wife or mother/father. Thank God for the support they have been to their spouse or parent as they dealt with schoolwork at home. |

| 15 | Give thanks for God’s creation and that the sustainable development goals help us to preserve His perfect gifts. Pray that Christian teachers can point to the One who ‘threw the stars into space’. |
| 16 | Pray that the resources from the Salvation Army, BioLogos, Truro Diocese and SCIAF provide a way to share His creation with school pupils in a God honouring way. |
| 17 | Pray for the teachers and schools’ workers in the Western Isles who will join with Megan and Kirsteen on 24 June for the Teacher Meet-up in Stornoway. May it be a real time of fellowship and encouragement in the last week of term. |
| 18 | Pray for teaching staff who may be considering whether to enrol on the Evangelical Alliance Public Leader programme. Pray that God will raise up more Christians to take up positions of leadership in our schools. |
| 19 | Thank God for the forthcoming Catalyst Conference in Inverness, on 20th September. Pray that it will fulfil the aim of encouraging greater engagement in local schools within the Highland Council area. Thank God for those who have already agreed to take part. |
| 20 | Give thanks for the completion of the Back to School with God 2025 service resources: an SU Scotland initiative in collaboration with CVE Scotland. Pray that these may be used within churches to encourage both schools’ staff and pupils in August, and that the truth that He is ‘All I Need’ be a reality in their hearts. |
| 21 | Give thanks to all those school staff who help with Christian camps over the summer. Pray for all the children and young people who will attend – for their safety, and for hearts and minds ready to consider what Christ has done for them. |
| Please pray for the work of CVE Scotland: – | |
| 22 | Give thanks to God for a successful 40acts initiative in March and for the generous financial contributions we received. Pray that the schools who benefited from the practical gifts will be blessed by them. |
| 23 | Pray for the continued progression of the plans for IGNITE; a National Schools’ Work Gathering on Saturday 22 November 2025. Pray for those who will be leading the seminars that they may seek His face and hear His voice for guidance as to what to include. |
| 24 | Give thanks for the generous financial grants received to support the IGNITE Gathering. Pray for wisdom for those who make the expenditure decisions and to be faithful stewards. |
| 25 | Pray that God will start to work in the hearts of those who will attend IGNITE, and for churches to encourage their own children’s workers to sign-up. |
| 26 | Thank God for the increasing engagement with CVE Scotland social media channels and for the volunteers who have helped achieved this. Pray that the weekly bible verses are a word in season for our school staff. |
| 27 | Give thanks for the time spent with Andrew Murray from Trail Consultancy at our Management Committee in April. Please continue to pray that the Trustees and staff have clarity and consensus for a new vision for CVE Scotland. |
| 28 | Thank God for CVE Scotland’s volunteers and their support in IT, social media management and school engagement. Pray for those who are currently considering how they may serve with CVE Scotland in a number of different areas. |
| 29 | Pray that the Lord may be working in the hearts and minds of those who called to serve with CVE Scotland as future Trustees. |
| 30 | Thank God for the final completion of the RSHP project with the publication of links and resources for Early Years, First and Second Levels. Pray that these may be accessed and used widely across Scotland and that future Explainer Events will be well attended. |
| 31 | Give thanks to God for answered prayers for the 10th anniversary Ceilidh held in May – for the opportunity to meet some of our supporters and non-Christian friends and family who also came along. Pray that the literature distributed and conversations that took place may encourage deeper questions about the reason for the hope that is in us. |
