Steve Younger’s Time for Reflection Event Booklets

Steve Younger has written a series of ‘Time for Relection’ booklets. Each booklet contains events based on a different theme. They have been used and refined in non-denominational Scottish sector and fit within the Curriculum for Excellence, though they could be delivered in various learning communities.

‘Words’ was written in 2018 by Steve Younger and produced by SCR (School Chaplain Resources)

In this volume, rather than provide a script for each TfR event, Steve provides detailed notes on each idea, which the presenter can adapt to his/her own style/school.

Some of the outlines include a guide on how to make visual aids, while others link to projects/initiatives which can enhance learning/health and well-being across the school.

Seasons was written by Steve Younger in 2018 and produced by SCR (School Chaplain Resources)

The ideas in this booklet are larger scale ‘Time for Reflection’ events. There is explanatory text around each title, providing information and possible options required to plan your own TfR event to suit your particular audience. Each title is linked to a stated Curriculum for Excellence RME Experiences and Outcome.

‘Reflections’ was written by Steve Younger & Irene Moore in 2019 and produced by SCR (School Chaplain Resources).

Steve says; “I believe that some of the greatest treasures in Scotland are its schools and their staff and pupils. They are one of our greatest national assets. Anything we can do to value and refine and invest in these Treasures matters”.

Treasures is copyright Steve Younger and Christian Values in Education Scotland and produced by SCR (School Chaplain Resources) in 2020

Steve has served as a school chaplain for around 40 years. He has served in Primary and Secondary schools, Additional Support Needs schools and ASD Bases. In June 2018 he graduated with a Doctorate in Education on ‘Religious Observance and Spiritual Values within Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence’.

Steve served as a co-opted member of the Education Committee of the Church of Scotland and is a member of the ‘International Association of Children’s Spirituality’. He was a facilitator for the Masters level ‘Religious Observance: Design and Praxis’ course that ran for three years within the University of Glasgow’s School of Education. Through the Church of Scotland’s Education Committee he has provided training in Religious Observance and School Chaplaincy for several of Scotland’s local authorities.

Throughout his time serving as a school chaplain he has been actively involved in Youth and Children’s Ministry, firstly with Crusaders (now Urban Saints) and for many years with Scripture Union Scotland. Steve works one day a week for CVE Scotland and is its project worker on a National School Chaplaincy Initiative.
