The Easter Code: Can You Crack It?
This is a resource pack which provides everything you need to organise a 2-hour event for Primary 7 pupils. It features games, mime, spontaneous drama, video, craft ideas, discussion, storytelling, music suggestions, and much more.
Facilitated by one or more adults (often the school chaplaincy team or local children’s/youth workers), groups of children embark on a journey through the last week of Jesus’ life. They explore five different places and events: the last supper, foot washing, garden of Gethsemane, crowds gathered outside Pilate’s Palace, and Golgotha. In doing so the children gained the ‘keys’ to help them unlock why the Easter Story is still celebrated and important today.
The Easter Code allows space for reflection on some of the difficult issues that surround this last week: from questions of betrayal and peer pressure to grief and sacrifice. The event ends with the celebration of the power of love to overcome all that would attempt to deny God’s love, as shown on Easter Day.
A full-colour, 28 page Resource Book containing information on planning and hosting an Easter event for Primary 7 children, “The Easter Code” comes with CD-ROM including PowerPoint, scripts, images and movie samplers from an Easter Code event. A fantastic resource for P7s from the authors of “Bubblegum n Fluff.”
