Vine Trust: Centre for Global Citizenship

Vine Trust’s Centre for Global Citizenship is based on board a barge in Leith, Edinburgh. The floating classroom complex includes a small cinema, interactive exhibition and flexible workshop space. It is a first class resource for school groups, teachers’ receptions and other youth organisations to interact with global issues.

The Centre can deliver presentations on Global Citizenship to upper primary classes and all secondary year groups. They also run day conferences for senior secondary groups on:

• World Poverty
• Education for All
• Maternal Health
• Global Health and Wellbeing

These are multi-media based conferences with examples from Tanzania and Peru. There will be times of discussion, group work and a creative workshop as the group engage in the issues and are challenged to make a difference. There are no charges for school groups to visit the barge.

The Trust can also supply a volunteer speaker who can come along to your group and share their experiences of volunteering in Peru and Tanzania (all volunteers have been subject to Disclosure Scotland checks).

Vine Trust is an international volunteering charity based in Leith, helping to connect people to change lives amongst some of the poorest communities in Peru and Tanzania. Among their most high profile projects is the operation of ships bringing medical aid on the Upper Amazon (Peru) and Lake Victoria (Kenya).
