World War 1 Rich Task

As part of their study of World War 1, Middleton Park School in Aberdeen developed a collaborative learning experience for Primary 4 and 5 on the subject of the 1914 Christmas Truce.
What makes this material stand out is:
– The number of partners involved. The pupils worked with a school chaplain (who was key to pulling it all together), a local artist, football coaches and the school vocal instructor.
– The final product of the learning was a film made by the pupils themselves: https://vimeo.com/114475809
By creating this film, the pupils were able to not only consider the question themselves but to allow a much wider audience, including pupils, parents and the wider community to reflect on those amazing events of 1914. Incredibly, this film has now been watched in 19 different countries!
