CVE Scotland in Keynote Address

Rev. Colin Sinclair, the current Moderator of the Church of Scotland, gave the keynote address at an Education and Chaplaincy Forum, hosted by the Presbytery of Lanark on 31st October. Headteachers and chaplains from about 40 schools within the area gathered together for a day. Colin spoke on the role of chaplains in Scottish schools and the potential for partnership between schools and chaplains and their faith communities, using some support materials from CVE Scotland, referring to the charity and raising its profile.

After Colin gave his keynote speech on chaplaincy and the difference it can make in the life of children and young people, Tony McDaid, Director of Education South Lanarkshire Council, gave a very positive and excellent talk. The Forum was chaired by Rev George Shand. There were two case studies from Rev. Nikki McDonald, Upper Clyde Parish, and Nav Munogee, Deputy Head Lanark Grammar. There was also helpful input from Carole McKenzie who is responsible for all the Primary schools.

Those attending had opportunity to discuss, hear about good practice and share together, in what was a very positive atmosphere surrounding school chaplaincy.
