Obituary: Dr Ian Findlay

Sadly, Ian – a founding member of our Management Committee – went to be with the Lord on Friday 10th November. A long serving lecturer at Aberdeen College of Education/ Northern College, Ian continued to be indefatigable in his Christian service once he retired.

Among many other activities, he was a committee member of the Association of Christian Teachers Scotland/Christians in Scottish Education, a regular participant at EurECA (European Educators’ Christian Association) conferences, a religious representative on Aberdeenshire Education Committee, and a much-valued member of the CVE Scotland Management Committee.

Ian enjoyed a long and happy marriage to Patricia, and was the proud father of three children (Judith, Mark and David) and also of three grandchildren (Leon, Ash and Hester). His commitment was coupled with personal warmth and a ready sense of humour. No matter where in the country an event was taking place, Ian would arrive with a twinkle in his eyes – often after a lengthy journey and even an overnight stay. The breadth of experience and the depth of prayerfulness that he always brought will be genuinely missed. We shall remember him with great affection and thankfulness.
