CVE Scotland’s RSHP resources now available for download!
We are happy to announce the release of the Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP) resources for Third/Fourth Level and Senior Phase! These have been created specifically to meet the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence’s Experiences and Outcomes for RSHP and have been developed over the past 18 months as the major part of CVE Scotland’s RSHP Project. Although written predominantly with schools in mind, these resources will have use in the youth group and home, where learning and discussions around RSHP topics are taking place. CVE Scotland’s First and Second Level resources will be made available soon.
These free resources include activity plans which are intended to be used alongside the RSHP.Scot resources to help facilitators consider how to ensure the language, resources and activities used in their RSHP lessons are objective, and inclusive of pupils who have religious beliefs, and to alert them to potential parental concerns. Alternative resources, such as videos, images and PowerPoint slides are sometimes suggested to replace content that promotes particular ideological beliefs as factual, or that may be inappropriate in the classroom.
Pupils should also be enabled to make informed decisions about relationships, sexual health and parenthood in ways that are suitable for their age and stage and given ways to reflect on the moral and spiritual aspects of their choices.

One way this has been addressed is with the introduction of ‘sexual integrity’, the idea that what we believe, value and say about sex and sexuality matches up with our actions. Pupils will be given ongoing opportunities to consider what this means in their own lives, and to learn about setting boundaries and being accountable for their actions.
We hope that the resources will be useful to all teachers of RSHP, regardless of their own religious or philosophical beliefs and we welcome feedback or questions about the resources.
All the resources can be accessed on the CVE Scotland website. There is a simple registration page to complete which allows access to a webpage which contains the downloads for each curriculum Level.
