Here at CVE Scotland we have started putting together some recommendations for Easter resources to use this year.

Easter Resources which are most suitable for:
Scripture Union Scotland & Scripture Union Ireland’s Colour in Easter:
Based around a three-part video series, this cross-curricular resource for P6 and P7 brings the Easter story to life! Alongside the videos is a downloadable resource pack with quizzes and reflection activities formatted for both classroom delivery and home learning. Colour in Easter is simple to use and can be delivered as one session or split into shorter lessons.

Ten Must Know Bible Stories has downloadable lesson plans, activities and assemblies available for Early Years and Primary, including an Easter story trail which is new for 2022.

Youth for Christ has plenty of Primary and Secondary resources

For Secondary schools: ‘The Easter Story: John’s Eyewitness Account’ is a video with accompanying teaching materials and ideas for collective worship for pupils to think about what the significance of Holy Week and Easter is for Christians as well as plenty of explainers throughout the Re:quest site.

Prayer Spaces in Schools have many activities listed on their website for Easter and Lent. It is free to download a pdf of an activity. There is a recording of a Zoom training session about Easter Prayer Spaces activities on their website.
The Easter Code is being adapted into an online resource by Steve Younger.

Messy Church has plenty of activities to suggest. The summary of Easter resources also has links to many other organisations’ Easter activities.

Scripture Union Scotland’s Easter Adventure is a holiday club resource written for P4-P7s and could be used by churches, messy church teams or holiday clubs. The programme takes the children on a journey from Palm Sunday to the Resurrection, and includes an introductory activity, dramas, games, Bible teaching, crafts and songs, finishing with group time and a Bible devotional booklet for the children to take home.
SU Scotland’s Easter Adventure
Scripture Union Scotland’s Jungle Adventure Holiday Club – due at the start of March – is a five day outdoors Bible based holiday club resource for ages 5-11 years.

Children’s Church Chats has some recommended Easter-themed videos for sharing with your youth group.

Steve Younger’s YouTube Channel has videos with ideas for showing pastoral support around this time and sharing the message of Easter (e.g. a Comfort Box, an Easter Story Box). The Scottish Bible Society’s Wonder Walks are a series of eight readings and simple activities to for children and their adults to do during Lent and Easter, designed to do whilst out on a walk.
The Scottish Bible Society’s Journey into Jerusalem takes families through a series of more detailed Lent and Easter readings.

Prayer Spaces in Schools Easter Series has nine prayer ideas to help young people reflect on the story of Easter in fresh ways.

Robyn produces engaging explainer videos which encourage viewers to consider an issue for themselves. Although primarily written for schools in Wales these can very helpfully be used in Scotland. Easter videocoming soon.
