School Chaplaincy module underway

First lecture of the School Chaplaincy module at the Scottish Baptist College, University of the West of Scotland (Paisley campus):

Nine students have taken on this course (six enrolled students and three audits). They are from varied backgrounds and occupations – one teacher, one minister, several Youth workers’ and a schools’ worker. The class works by a ‘blended learning’ approach so that students have three hours of classroom contact every second week. In the intervening weeks they complete on-line reading and activities. This makes the course more flexible and easier to fit in on a part-time student basis. Two of the students, for example, are from Aberdeen and are attending the University solely for this course: they only need to travel down once a fortnight rather than on a weekly basis. The fist class gave an introduction to the course, explained assessments and opened up the context of ‘Time for Reflection’ within the Curriculum for Excellence. It seemed to go well and the group gelled well and began to discuss things together and to contribute to the activities.
