Time for Reflection: RO and School Chaplaincy training module
The Scottish Baptist College’s fantastic Time for Reflection module is running for the third year and open to new applicants. Based at the University of the West of Scotland, this course module will start in September 2021 and again be online this year due to the uncertainties of when face-to-face lecturing will be allowed. Led by CVE Scotland’s School Chaplaincy Project leader, Rev. Steve Younger, this will be an interactive course, running on Tuesday evenings (7:30-9:30pm) from September to December. Bursaries are available, funded by CVE Scotland, to help with the cost of the course.
At present, one of the only modules offered at Undergraduate level across Scotland with a focus on the delivery of Time for Reflection (Religious Observance) and Chaplaincy within Curriculum for Excellence, the course teaches exploring values and beliefs with young people in schools.
This module will help you think through different approaches to chaplaincy, spirituality, and religious education, all in the context of working with young people. Ideal for school staff tasked with the delivery of Values Education and Time for Reflection. Ideal too for anyone who is, or hopes to be, a school chaplain, and anyone working with young people in any environment.
Previous course attendees on this module have been from a wide range of denominational backgrounds and roles within church, youth and schools’ communities. The course provides an excellent opportunity to learn together the benefits of partnership between churches and schools. It will also give many ideas and resources to suit the season we are working within towards the end of the pandemic.
