‘To Easter…and Beyond’ – CVE Scotland’s School Chaplaincy Evening
Launch yourself into Easter armed with online resources and explore some other virtual ways of doing school chaplaincy.
What is peer chaplaincy? How do school staff think chaplains can be serving their schools at the moment? What could school chaplaincy look like for the rest of the year?
These questions and more will be answered through a series of short presentations and guest interviews, led by Rev. Steve Younger (see below), with the opportunity to share and pray in breakout rooms.
The event will run as one Zoom video call. Approximate timings are shown below.
If you are unable to make all of the event but would like to join for only part of it you will be able to come and go as you wish. Anyone with an interest in School Chaplaincy in Scotland and supporting Scotland’s schools is very welcome. This event is most suited to those in School Chaplaincy or Schools Worker roles.

Rev. Steve Younger leads CVE Scotland’s School Chaplaincy Project. He is minister of High Blantyre Baptist Church. He has served as a School Chaplain for forty years, in mainstream Primary, mainstream Secondary, Additional Support Needs Schools and ASN Bases. In June 2018 he graduated with a Doctorate in Education on ‘Religious Observance and Spiritual Values within Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence’. Steve has published a resource handbook on Scottish school chaplaincy (‘Time for Reflection’) and Time for Reflection resource booklets (‘Words’, ‘Seasons’, ‘Reflections’ and ‘Treasures’). He has served as a co-opted member of the Education Committee of the Church of Scotland, is a member and editor for the ‘International Association of Children’s Spirituality’ and their online publication. His expertise is also called upon in the planning and involvement for the UK Centre for Chaplaincy in Education. Steve was a Facilitator for the Masters level ‘Religious Observance: Design and Praxis’ course that ran for three years within the University of Glasgow’s School of Education and is a part-time lecturer at the Scottish Baptist College. Steve also provides training in Religious Observance and School Chaplaincy for Scotland’s local education authority committees.
