Children and Young People Chaplaincy Listening Research Project
The Centre for Chaplaincy in Education (CCE) is looking for chaplains to take part in a Listening Research Project, and to contribute a Scottish Voice to the findings.
The CCE Listening Project is a new research initiative focused on listening to the voices of children and young people. The project aims to record and examine the impact of Christian Educational Chaplaincy in schools and colleges and address the current lack of research evidence by gathering meaningful insights directly from the children and young people who chaplaincy serves.
This ground-breaking research will assess how chaplaincy supports and develops students’ spiritual, emotional, and mental health needs, while contributing to national educational chaplaincy standards, informing future practices, growing new chaplaincies, training chaplains, advocacy, and policy development. The outcomes will align with current frameworks and partnerships, reinforcing chaplaincy’s role in education.
CCE are inviting chaplaincies to participate in this important work. Participation will involve:
- Recording the number of significant interactions chaplains have within their school over a two-week period.
- Inviting a colleague from your school or church to facilitate student focus groups, listening to the reflections of children and young people on what they have to say chaplaincy.
