Schools Chaplaincy Project with the ‘Guilds Together’ Tour May 2019

Kirkaldy, Newport-on-Tay, Dundee and Galgety Bay, 7th to 10th May

For the second time, CVE Scotland partnered with the Church of Scotland ‘Guilds Together’ tour. This time we visited Pathhead Parish Church (Kirkcaldy), Wormit Parish Church (Newport-on-Tay), Meadowside St. Paul’s Parish Church (Dundee) and Galgety Bay Parish Church. In each venue members of Church of Scotland Womens’ Guilds came together as part of a National tour by their office bearers. As a part of these meetings, CVE Scotland was able to deliver a half-hour presentation on its work and to encourage Guilds to ‘adopt’ their local schools and chaplains. In partnership with Marjorie Paton (Vice Chair, Church of Scotland Education Committee) and Agnes Mullen (Church and Society Council, Church of Scotland) we presented the potential for partnership between faith communities and local schools, encouraging the Guild members to pray for their local schools and chaplains, to partner with their local schools and to be present within their local schools. In the afternoon at each venue there was the opportunity for meeting with chaplains from the local areas for an hour and a half to deliver a short seminar programme on School chaplaincy. Across the four venues we met approximately 200 Guild members and delivered training for 24 school chaplains.
